Denmark Signs Deal to Deploy Coastal Defence System from KONGSBERG
December 17, 2025 – Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KONGSBERG) has inked an agreement with the Danish government to supply the Naval Strike Missile Coastal Defence System (NSM CDS).
The contract, valued at over EUR 100 million, will deliver Denmark the newest tech and a state-of-the-art coastal artillery capability, positioning the country at the forefront of coastal defense.
“The acquisition will enable Denmark to counter contemporary naval threats from land-based positions and will bolster the nation’s operational readiness. It will also expand the NSM CDS footprint from the Baltic Sea across to the North Sea,” stated Eirik Lie, President of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
This coastal system comprises KONGSBERG’s advanced fire-control solution, the NSM missiles, and launch platforms. Earlier this year, Denmark also contracted for NSM missiles to arm its frigates.
“KongSberg’s NSM CDS continues to establish itself as the premier land-based and mobile coastal artillery option for NATO partners,” commented Kjetil R. Myhra, Executive Vice President Defence Systems at KONGSBERG.
With this acquisition, Denmark becomes the fifth NATO member state to adopt the coastal artillery system, joining Poland, the United States (and United States Marine Corps), Romania, and Latvia.
