The week was a resounding success for Irish swimming overall, with a total of seven medals won.
The medal rush began last Tuesday, with Daniel Wiffen securing a bronze in the men’s 400m freestyle final. John Shortt followed suit on Wednesday, winning gold in the men’s 200m backstroke final. Then, Wiffen added another gold to his collection in the 1500m freestyle on Thursday. Later that evening, Evan Bailey took bronze in the men’s 200m freestyle. On Saturday, Walshe added a silver in the 200m individual medley, and Wiffen snagged a bronze in the men’s 800m freestyle.
