Get ready for a thrilling twist! Prepare to be amazed as we dive into the world of horror with a unique story. Kumail Nanjiani, the beloved comedian and actor, is set to make his directorial debut with the horror film 'Howl'. But here's where it gets controversial... Is this the next Jordan Peele, or just another comedian trying their hand at directing? Let's find out!
In a recent interview, Nanjiani revealed that he's always had a vague interest in directing, but it wasn't until he read the script for 'Howl' that he felt inspired to take the leap. "I read the right thing," he said. "I saw the tone in my head, and I knew exactly how this movie should be."
Nanjiani is no stranger to the horror genre, as he and his wife Emily V. Gordon are self-proclaimed genre fans. "We watch every sci-fi movie. We watch every horror movie," he shared. So, it's no surprise that he's drawn to the genre for his directorial debut.
But is this a smart move for Nanjiani? He acknowledges that he's following in the footsteps of other comedians-turned-horror filmmakers, such as Jordan Peele, Josh Ruben, and Zach Cregger. "Their track record has helped me a little bit in making this pivot," he said.
While plot details remain under wraps, we do know that 'Howl' is aiming to enter production next year. And with Winter Coat Films, the production company Nanjiani launched last year with Gordon and producer Dani Melia, producing the film, we can expect great things.
So, what do you think? Is Kumail Nanjiani the next big name in horror directing? Or is this just a passing trend? Let us know in the comments! And don't forget to check out 'Fallout' Season 2, premiering tomorrow on Prime Video, where you can catch Nanjiani in action.
