One of their early priorities is Anthony Cartwright, a four-star tight end from Detroit Country Day. Standing at 6'5" and weighing 235 lbs, Cartwright has already visited Ann Arbor multiple times and has nothing but praise for the Wolverines.
"Michigan is definitely one of my top choices," Cartwright shared. "I plan to visit again soon, and I'm definitely going to set up an official visit. It's an easy trip, and I want to experience more of what Michigan has to offer."
During his recent visit, Cartwright connected with tight ends coach Freddie Whittingham, who showed him how he could fit into Michigan's offensive scheme. "Their offense allows me to showcase my full potential," Cartwright added.
A Top Prospect's Perspective
Cartwright, ranked 302nd overall and 6th in the state by 247Sports, is also considering Oregon and Michigan State. He plans to take official visits to these schools, along with Miami, this summer. But what sets Michigan apart? Cartwright believes it's the opportunity to showcase his skills and the chance to compete for a national championship.
"Michigan's program allows me to be versatile and play multiple positions. That's a huge draw for me," he explained.
Spring Game: A Showcase for Top Recruits
Michigan's annual spring game, set for April 18th at the Big House, will be a showcase for some of the country's top recruits. One such recruit is Isala Wily-Ava, a four-star safety from St. John Bosco in Bellflower, California. Wily-Ava is excited about his upcoming visit and has had positive conversations with the new Michigan staff.
"They see me as a versatile player, and I love that. Michigan always competes for championships, and that's a huge attraction for me," Wily-Ava said.
Wily-Ava, ranked 232nd overall, 24th at safety, and 32nd in California, will also visit Washington in March. He recently visited Arizona State, a program pushing hard for his commitment.
Loyalty and Tradition: A Wolverine Commitment
The Wolverines' 2027 class has remained strong despite the coaching changes. Recarder Kitchen, a four-star edge rusher, committed to Michigan a few weeks before Sherrone Moore's firing. When asked about his commitment, Kitchen made it clear it was about more than just coaches.
"I chose Michigan for its tradition and what the university stands for," Kitchen explained. "I wasn't going there for any particular coach."
Kitchen has had the chance to meet the new staff, including head coach Kyle Whittingham, whom he described as "a real great dude." He plans to visit Michigan frequently this offseason to watch practices and see the new coaches in action.
