Global pest control technology company Pelsis Group has acquired Madrid-based professional pest control product companies Sanitrade and distributor Vesta Distribuciones for an undisclosed amount.
The agreement will allow the company to further expand its operations in southern Europe in order to achieve its goal of making its company Edialux Professional the leading European pest control distributor.
Sanitrade specializes in the protection of grain stores and also owns Vesta Distribuciones, which focuses on the agricultural sector.
Sanitrade and Vesta are now 100% owned by the company headquartered in Knaresborough, with all employees, customers and suppliers moving to Pelsis.
This is the first acquisition by Pelsis following its sale in September this year to specialist investment manager Pamplona Capital Management.
Following the acquisition, Pelsis now achieves sales of around 165 million euros and employs more than 600 people at 15 sites located in Western Europe and the United States.
Commenting on the sale, Sanitrade Managing Director Inés Rodríguez, who runs the business with her sister Sara, said: “Our family business is ready for the next step. Joining the Pelsis group represents an excellent opportunity for Sanitrade and Vesta to develop and better support our customers. We are very excited about the future.
The deal also follows Pelsis’ acquisition of California-based cruelty-free anti-bird maker Bird-B-Gone in May, while in February it acquired Lyon-based pest control supplier Edialux France.
Pelsis Group CEO Andrew Milner said: “We are very pleased to expand our operations in Southern Europe by integrating Sanitrade and Vesta Distribuciones into the Pelsis Group.
“Inés and Sara have done a fantastic job in making the company what it is today, and we see plenty of opportunities for further collaboration, investment and growth.
“Our goal is to make Edialux Professional Europe the leading pest control distributor and this agreement is a key strategic element in achieving this goal.
Pelsis was advised on the legal aspects of the acquisition by DLA Piper Spain. Sanitrade was advised by Argo Asesores Financieros and Carrera Abogados & Economistas.
