ABOUT the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Renewal

PPC:NCMR picked up the unfinished work of the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and many others who, in 1968, called for a “values revolution” in America. They sought to build a broad fusion movement that could unite poor and affected communities across the country. Their name was a direct cry from the other side of the story: the countryside of the poor. The PPC:NCMR has taken over this unfinished work . From Alaska to Arkansas, from the Bronx to the border, people are coming together to confront the intertwined evils of systemic racism, poverty, ecological devastation, militarism and the war economy, and narrative distorted moral of religious nationalism. We understand that as a nation we are at a critical juncture – that we need a movement that will change the moral narrative, impact politics and elections at all levels of government, and build lasting power for the poor and those affected. Our flagship organizations are Repairers of the Breach and the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights and Social Justice.

Sent on behalf of Campaign of the Poor: A National Call for Moral Renewal by AHF’s “Housing is a Human Right” Housing Advocacy Division.
