Plans to build a new Spanish immersion daycare are underway
Plans to build a Spanish immersion daycare in northwest Rochester are underway.
Based in Minneapolis Tierra Encantada work with the developer Venstar, LLC tabled the first plans for a 10,000 square foot daycare in January with the intention of starting in the spring.
This appears to be still on schedule as a “structural hull” permit for Creekside Tierra Rochester Daycare was tabled on Thursday. The estimated value of the project on the permit is $ 3.6 million.
It will be built at the southwest corner of the intersection of West Circle Drive and 19th Street Northwest. It will be part of Venstar Creekside Development on a cleared lot, in front of 19e rue du Zen Fusion Hibachi and living room.
This will be the first structure to be erected on the grassy terrain of Venstar that makes up the Creekside project.
As the rapidly growing Tierra prepares for national expansion, this will be its first location in Minnesota outside of the Twin Cities.
The new center will offer bilingual immersion, diversity education and organic meals prepared on site by a chef for children 6 and under. The hope is to open in fall 2021 with a capacity of around 150 children ranging from infants, to toddlers and pre-K. It will have a team of around 30 full-time employees, including a full-time chef.
In January, the CEO of Tierra Encantada Kristen denzer says, “I’ve been interested in Rochester for a while.” She cited Rochester’s educated population, with parents who “value worldview” as a cheap one.
People have a lot of things in the Mediterranean city and the storage of these things is a growing industry.
The latest sign of this is the sale of an open pit in southeast Rochester, near Shoppes in the Maine area.
The local buyer already has other Med City storage centers, so it’s not a big leap to speculate what the plan might be for this land.
We will see what awaits us over time.
