Public input is sought to shape future NACOG transportation outreach efforts

The survey results will be used to identify a variety of methods that will be incorporated into NACOG’s public participation plan.

The Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG), a planning and services organization serving local governments in Apache, Coconino, Navajo, and Yavapai counties, is asking area residents to provide input through a brief survey of how NACOG can better interact with the public as it develops a new “public participation plan” to guide public outreach and collection of input for transportation planning.

“NACOG really appreciates public input as we work with local governments on their transportation planning needs,” said Planning Director Jennifer O’Connor. “Planning within local communities in our region is most effective when we are able to engage with those who live, work and travel here regularly throughout our planning process.”

NACOG is asking residents in its four-county region to respond to the survey to share how they would prefer to receive information and provide feedback as NACOG conducts studies and develops transportation plans over time. However, there are two localized areas served by other planning agencies that are considered outside the NACOG study area. The “Prescott Urbanized Area” in the Central Basin area of Yavapai County is served by its own metropolitan planning organization, as is Flagstaff.

The survey is available in English and Spanish and takes approximately five minutes to complete. Other languages can be accepted on request. The survey will be available through September 21, 2022 and accessible online at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/R39Z983.

The survey results will be used to identify a variety of methods that will be incorporated into NACOG’s public participation plan. NACOG can then choose from these options to engage with the community based on the specific objectives of the current transportation study or plan being developed.
