Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti on transfers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale
What did Ancelotti say?
“I know the team very well, a lot of experienced players that I know, and promising young players as well, as well as those who are coming back from loans,” said Ancelotti.
“With this team, without loaned players like Bale, Odegaard and Ceballos, Madrid reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and fought for La Liga (last season).
“So we have the players to win trophies. We have experienced people, Modric, Kroos, Benzema and quality young people, like Vinicius, Rodrygo, Valverde.
What did he say about Everton?
The Italian also claimed his move to Everton, who finished 10th in the Premier League in their only full season at the helm, was a success.
“All teams have goals – in Madrid it’s winning La Liga and UCL,” he said.
“In Everton, it was fighting to qualify for Europe. Success for a coach is not just about winning trophies. The previous season Everton fought relegation so having a chance to make Europe on the last day was a success.
What future for the current Real team?
Existing squad members like Isco and Marcelo have been named as players who could regain their motivation and come in handy next season, as has another former manager Gareth Bale.
“Gareth hasn’t played a lot in PL, but he has scored a lot of goals, has been very effective in the last few games when he has had the chance to play,” said Ancelotti. “He’s coming back, I know him very well, if he has the motivation, he can have a good season, without a doubt.”
Ancelotti also backed the galactic signing of 2019 to finally show off his quality next season.
“Eden Hazard is a top player, he has had injury issues and has yet to show his best potential here,” said Ancelotti.
“I believe he can do it next year, he wants it, he’s motivated.”
Ancelotti declined to respond directly if Cristiano Ronaldo could return to Madrid from Juventus but said he was impressed with the number of goals the 36-year-old Portuguese continued to score.
